Want to spend time developing your oil painting skills and taking yourself to new levels? There’s just something more vibrant and deeper in the colors and the paintings you do in oil. Whether you already paint in oils or always wanted to experiment in oils, come check this out. Tyler is going to offer classes two days a month at the Guild so over the course of a year, you can really develop your skills.
Not sure if oil painting is for you? Donors have made oil paints, brushes, and 8 x 10 canvases available for your FIRST oil painting . . .at no additional charge to the class fee ($35 for one class or $60 for both days.) Register for class and give oil painting a try…. with no big commitments!
Tyler Thornton Art currently resides in Topeka. Tyler works as a self-taught artist. His skills in painting portray a wide range of disciplines. He works mostly in oil paints, experimenting with both molding and crackle paste to create depth and extreme layers. Tyler hopes to inspire others with the depth, thought, and emotion that goes into each of his pieces.
Class List:
16"x20" or 18"x24" canvas
- Basic oil colors (red, yellow, blue, black, white, and brown)
- Baby oil
- Acrylic or oil brush set
- Rag/old T-shirt
- GLOVES: Nitrile or Latex or whatever works for you
- 2 jars with lids
- Gamsol/brush cleaner/turpentine
- (small) Box large enough to carry painting back and forth and keep your car safe from wet oil paint
The Saturday morning session is from 9 am to 11:30 am.
The Monday session is from 5:30 pm until 8 pm for $60.00.
It is recommended that you attend two session, in order to complete an oil painting. The price for two sessions is $60 total.
If you prefer to attend just one session, the price is $35.
This form includes three ticket options: 2-day, Saturday, and Monday.
